Sure, I should care more about Iraq, than the trees. But, I can understand the trees and I'm not sure I understand the American political (ie, Republican) position on Iraq. There is also the matter of the death penalty. The moral logic in the justification of the death penalty is fragile at best. I am sickened by the number of people jumping on the bandwagon which upholds the principles of freedom, but only with the caveat that these principles are only acceptable for as long as they are economically advantageous. Is it responsible to go to church and embrace a Christian belief system, then endorse the death penalty, or war, or the wholesale, enthusiastic destruction of the environment for the sake of the strength of the dollar? I am not sure I understand how Arab militants can take us seriously enough to want to destroy us - and maybe that's why -- the idea that the stupid ones are the most dangerous.
I am really not trying to alienate anyone, but as there are maybe only three people who *might* read this, I am exercising my right to free speech (which even that, you'd have to admit, can be rescinded at any moment.)|||80839369|||
