1/27/2003 03:18:54 PM|||Amy|||Man. My extended family is really screwed up. I talked to my cousin today and got some insight on what has been happening the last several months.

My uncle is not talking to my mother because he's pissed off at her over the fact that I named my daughter the same name as his daughter. I don't understand why he has chosen to vent his anger at my mother, and not at me. But, as my cousin said, it seems he's flipped his lid. He's been carrying this grudge against my mother for the sixteen months since my daughter was born.

My aunt is not talking to my mother because she doesn't want to get involved in this bullshit, and she doesn't want to have to lie about any of it.

My uncle has also moved to another city and another state and left my aunt and cousins to fend for themselves in Georgia. I think this arrangement is okay in that my uncle has moved to find work, but this is another secret being kept from my mom. My aunt and cousins are one paltry teacher's salary paycheck away from being thrown out on the street.

My cousin has found a way to anesthetize herself against her severe problems with her ex-husband and custody of her children, and it isn't good.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I know these things could be worse, but for us it's business as usual - and that's what bothers me. I'm not surprised or upset by any of this drama because it's typical behaviour.
