My Mom thinks the light which shines on the walkway in the backyard was also on, but it too was off when we realized the light in the den had gone out. The only possible explanation is that there really was someone in the house. My father hadn't locked the deadbolt on the backdoor, so it might have been very easy for someone to come in. That door is noisy though. How someone could have gotten in and out again without us hearing them is a mystery. All kinds of theories are chasing after each other in my brain: house invasion, someone was going to assault us but got cold feet, someone was after my children, someone just wanted to see if they could get in and out undetected. It would be very hard for me to believe that we have a ghost or a guardian angel who is looking after our electricity bills. Maybe the neighbor across the alley was tired of our backyard light shining in his living room window. Maybe someone was going to try to steal something or do some harm behind or near our house and turned off the lights to escape detection. If it is a ghost, then whose would it be? I'm fairly certain that all of my deceased relatives are pretty darn happy to not be hanging around anymore.

Another theory that I have is largely self-centered, and that is that a ghost or guardian angel or something is giving us something to focus on rather than our problems. Maybe they're tired of all the incessant prayers and swirling thoughts around a couple of key issues presently plaguing my family and me. Maybe someone is out to get us - but why I haven't got a clue. We are way too hung up on our finances and other worries to have time to make enemies. Although, my parents do have a neighbor with whom they've been engaged in a low level fued for the last 10 or so years. Could it be him?|||90129363|||
