While I was living in County Donegal and working in a pub, there were some people I knew only by the name of the place from which they'd come. There was a John Offaly, an English Steve and a whole paddy wagon (gasp! how rude of me for using a racial slur!) full of blokes who were known by their first name followed by their paternal geneaology. This is a convenient contraction for 'you know the Joe I'm talking about. His father is John and John's dad was Jack.' and so they'd call him, Joe John Jack. This works well in a village of 500 people with five last names between them.|||106571814100753854|||Paternity on Display
