10/21/2003 10:09:41 AM|||Amy|||I do not believe from what evidence has been presented that Terri Schindler-Schiavo would rather die than live. I believe that she has a will to survive, and that if given proper therapy, her quality of life could be greatly improved. If I thought otherwise, I would not post updates on her situation.
Governor Jeb Bush's office has received thousands of emails and phone calls from people all over the country who are urging him to protect Terri's right to life. This came out yesterday:

Statement By: GOVERNOR JEB BUSH
Regarding Expansion of Call of Special Session
TALLAHASSEE- "Today I extended the call of this special session to include legislation that may help in the case of Terri Schiavo. The proposed bill would allow for a stay in cases of withholding nutrition and hydration from patients in situations similar to that of Ms. Schiavo. President King, Speaker Byrd, and others in the Legislature recognize the unique and tragic circumstances of Ms. Schiavo's case, and I am hopeful the Legislature will pass a bill immediately."
This bill passed the House and now it is in front of the senate. The problem is that the president of the senate, James King, is opposed. Please email him at: king.james.web@flsenate.gov
and let him know if you are in support of Terri being allowed to live. Even if you are not in support of Terri, please consider the horrible way she is being treated. Would you let your dog starve to death? Would you stop giving it water in order to hasten its death? Hopefully, by this point Terri is unconscious and is no longer aware of her body. However, for the first couple of days at least there is a damn good chance that was not the case. There are well documented case studies of what someone goes through as they are being starved to death. In the ones I've read about (the Northern Ireland hunger strikers of the early 80's) they at least had water. If I remember correctly, by the fourth or fifth day there is little pain left as the body consumes itself. Still, there is nothing human about "letting" someone die this way.|||106674994119883582|||You CAN Save Terri's Life
