9/17/2004 09:29:59 AM|||Amy|||I have taken the day off today. I know, I know. I can feel your shock all the way to this incredibly cluttered room in which I'm sitting while my little girl plays with scissors (and the stapler, mustn't forget the stapler) beside me and I am savoring the aroma of her poop filled pull-up. Reasons precisely why I have occasionally been accused of working just so I can avoid the poop filled pull-ups and feeling like a meanie for not letting my newly minted 3 year old play with scissors.
However, I have been given a one day vacation so that the kids' father can go play with his ultra-conservative, Republican, Glenn Beck idolizing buddies in Ohio. (Before anyone asks- I don't know how he got the plane ticket. I didn't pay for it.) Anyway, I sit here so that he can play there while we play here, and I really don't mind until the time arrives that I will eventually force myself to get up and go change the nasty pull-up, a task especially important to complete before she sits down on all that stinkiness.
Winston and I hung out together on the couch this morning. The father and I left at 4am so that he could make his 5:30 flight (and Holy-Mary-Mother-Of-God, there was a fatal road rage shooting on the same stretch of road this morning where I had been not an hour before), and when I arrived home at 5am - little Winston was awake. So, we played on the couch and watched some movie that was set in 1973, and we had fun. Fun! Fun is something we rarely have - as it's all making dinner and doing homework and marshalling kids and being seen as the drill seargent who is possibly scarier than real drill seargents. So, I played with my baby and savored those moments of fun. Fun!
Now, the question is - how will we spend our day? At some point we should all probably bathe, and eat (and God save us, poop again), and maybe even clean. But, for right now - while Monkey wanders around neglected in her poop filled pull-up and Winston sleeps after being up for a significant portion of the moon-lit hours, I am going to mess around online.
