She wakes periodically through the night to scratch at her forearms and thighs – places where there really isn’t evidence of dry skin or a rash. This causes me to wonder if she is just so damn itchy that she scratches whatever bare piece of skin she can find first. I have been keeping a layer of Eucerin cream on her constantly and while it seems to have helped to abate the rashes – it hasn’t cured her. She goes to the doctor on Friday, and maybe he will prescribe something to help her. I am at a loss on how to stop whatever is causing this.|||110055654989063421|||Itchy11/15/2004 05:56:02 PM|||Lisa|||Poor baby. Ask the pediatrician about flaxseed oil. It helps some people when taken internally but she may be too young. There is a new ointment on the market which is steroid free, but I don't know if it's suitable for such a young child. Most other effective medications are topical steroids, which can cause long-term damage. My own medications for my skin disorder (related to psoriasis) are steroid based.
