This particular stretch of road has always fascinated me because it comes at the top of a bridge after a longish stretch without traffic lights. I wonder if I am the only person in the Dallas area who has found intrigue in this bit of road.

In the dream I must have been in a car, but the action of the dream took place without a car, so maybe I was on a bike. The sign which points to the east to indicate the exit for Keller Springs was printed with the words "Milky Way Crossing" and sure enough, an ethereal arc dissected the right lane and extended off towards the westside of Richardson. The arc was dotted with tiny stars and planets, and each one glowed with its own radient light. I stood on the opposite of the road looking at it and wondering if the Milky Way threaded itself along the Earth with regularity. Did it always cross Preston Road at this juncture? And I assumed it did because why else would there be a sign? What would happen if someone tried to walk through it? Would they be sucked up by a gravitational pull equal to that of a black hole?

I walked over to the arc and I plucked out a planet the size of the Earth in a papier mache model of the solar system. As soon as I touched it, the ember red glow which lit the planet from within began to fade. As soon as I took it from its place in the current, the light began to die altogether. It occurred to me then that possibly the planet was shot through with radiation and it would kill me to touch it, so I dropped it. But then I thought, how much devastation have I caused to this planet by doing what I have just done? So, I gently picked it up, and then tripped and the planet bounced a couple of times across the road but lucky for it, in the direction of the current. I picked it up again and saw that the light was almost completely gone so I rushed to place it back in the current where I had found it and with great relief watched the light flood back. Then I woke up.
