All the Boredom Reducing Trouble a Girl Could Want
Today is a busy day for the mama. Not so much for the baby roos and possibly, the mama’s mate. Winston has a staph infection. Monkey has pink eye. Bear is safely tucked away at school, at least for the time being. Shep had eye surgery this morning, and as best I can tell, is at present staring into space and at the tv with his unpatched eye.
Winston’s staph infection was born into this world looking like a bug bite. Within two days of gestation, I found her standing in the middle of the living room floor with tears in her eyes. The infected area was swollen and heat producing, excessively painful to the touch. After I gave her a good long soak in the bath, I picked her up to play and she screamed. I happened to place the force of my grip right at the boil, and it hurt her badly. The poor wee girl. Yesterday morning I took her to a dermatology check-up, and the doctor recommended that we visit her pediatrician for an antibiotic. The pediatrician looked a little horrified when he saw the big boil, and the other smaller ones, which were starting on her legs – and gave us a prescription for an antibiotic that kills with a glance at 500 feet.
Monkey woke up this morning with her eyes sealed shut.
So, basically, both the girls are in quarantine. Bear is okay so far, but at this rate I’m not holding on to a lot of hope that all three will be healthy on Thanksgiving Day. Thank God it’s a holiday week.
Then, there’s Shep. One of his eyes went under the knife today, and frankly in an extremely selfish way – I wish the doctor could have seen the wisdom and human kindness in giving him a black pirate patch instead of big, white, gauze patch. If that had been the case, Shep would probably be asleep right now and not watching tv. wink wink
Sorry. That was probably kind of inappropriate.
