Posting just for the sake of posting
I finally remembered my password tonight so that I could login and post something for the first time in, what? a month? Except the problem is that I am not really feeling inspired to write anything. So, here’s a brief recap of the daily minutae in the basic order in which it occurred in the life of Kanga.
My dad couldn’t pee.
So, my brother and I took him to the emergency room and spent most of the night there with him.
The ER nurse put a catheter in a part of the body that I don’t like to think of my father having and strapped a pee bag to his leg.
My dad saw a doctor a week later.
But, the doctor tried something that didn’t work and my dad still couldn’t pee.
So, I took him to the emergency room and spent most of the night there with him.
Emergency rooms, even in the suburbs, are pretty neat places to be at 3am on a Saturday morning.
He got a new pee bag.
He walked around with the pee bag strapped to his leg for about a month.
Then, he had surgery and the doctors roto-rootered his prostate so that he could pee again.
My sister came and visited us while he recovered from surgery.
Thank God for my sister.
Because my patience with my father ran out about 31 years ago.
Winston had her first ever dance recital.
She was so damn cute.
It was a tap dance routine.
She tapped and she danced.
She didn’t just stand there and cry like some of the other kids.

Monkey’s recital is in a month.
She had her formal recital photo taken yesterday.
She wore a ton of make-up and I did her hair.
She was very pretty.

Bear is becoming an adolescent.
I am very worried.

I’ve been riding my bike more.
I haven’t lost any more weight.
That kind of sucks.
But then I haven’t been eating less either.
I’ve finally kicked my buttered bread habit.
I had to let the bread get stale and oddly discolored first.
And that somehow worked.
Another department at my place of employment tried to recruit me.
I thought about it real hard.
Then declined the offer.
It was pretty neat to have a ‘you like me. you really like me.” moment.
I’m not totally convinced I made the right decision.
But for reasons that have very little to do with the experience the position might have provided.
I got to go to Game 6 of the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup play-offs in which the Dallas Stars and the San Jose Sharks contended for a spot in the Western Conference Finals. The Stars finally beat the Sharks in the 4th overtime period,
and won!
My friend and I had been standing for most of the 6 hours we were there. It was 1:24am when that puck was finally in the net. We were so happy and so excited that we didn’t notice how tired we were from all the standing, cheering and kissing. I kissed my friend repeatedly to encourage a Stars win.
It worked!
I had blisters on my feet the next day.
I’m worried that Detroit is going to sweep Dallas in the Western Conference Finals.
I hope not.
That brings everything up to date. Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals is tomorrow night. I’ll be on vacation next week. I am going to spend the whole week taking and picking my kids up from school, and spending stress free time with them in the late afternoon and evenings. I am planning on cooking meals without processed foods. In between the dropping off and picking up times, I am going to ride my bike and go to the gym. I might even do a little cleaning and organizing at home. But I don’t want to make too many plans and then break them, so I’ll leave that last one as a possibility.

I’m sorry I couldn’t be there for Winston’s show. I won’t be there for Monkey’s either, I’m afraid.
Am I going to be descended on by Bear and Daddy?
Am I going to be descended on by you?

You know what would be great? If Daddy would come stay at my house with the kids for several days while I go off gallivanting around Northern California with you. Then, what would be even cooler is he would go visit you himself with all three kids in tow.
Man, that would be awesome! What do you think?
